Patricia Gaukel It is with great pleasure that we announce that Patricia Gaukel, of USF St Petersburg’s Kate Tiedemann College of Business, has received Quality Matters certification for her online course, Cost Accounting and Control II (ACG 4351). The peer review was conducted throughout the month of June and her course was awarded certification on June 30, 2017.

The Quality Matters peer review process is rigorous and focuses on the quality of course design and alignment of materials. The reviewers apply 43 standards from a research-based rubric of best practices in online and blended learning.

Professor Gaukel’s course is now listed on the QM directory of certified courses from universities across the nation. Additionally, the QM Seal of Recognition and information regarding the course quality certification will now be displayed on the home page of her course.

AnnMarie GunnOnline Learning and Instructional Technology Services at the Nelson Poynter Library is excited to announce that on March 10, 2017, Dr. AnnMarie Gunn received Quality Matters recognition for her Children’s Literature course, LAE 4414.

The QM Certification process consists of a peer review guided by a research based rubric for high quality online course design. When asked about her experience, Dr. Gunn stated:

His undergraduate course, Business Process Analysis (ISM 4930), received certification on March 6, 2017 and his graduate course, ERP Systems Analysis (ISM 6930), received certification on March 9, 2017.

Quality Matters certification involves a rigorous peer review focusing on the quality of course design and alignment  of materials using a rubric of best practices in online and blended learning.

Through the faculty based peer-review process, her course has been found to meet the highest national standards for online course quality and design. Not only did her course meet the essential QM standards, she received the total possible score of 99 points.

Dr. V. Mark Durand Receives Second Quality Matters Course Recognition

Durand.jpg mugPlease join us in congratulating Dr. V. Mark Durand! On Wednesday September 7, 2016, Dr. Durand received Quality Matters Certification for his online course, Autism Spectrum Disorders (DEP 4220).

This is the second course for which Dr. Durand has received QM Certification. His other online course, Abnormal Psychology (CLP 4143), was recognized in April of 2016.

The QM Certification process consists of a peer review guided by a research based rubric for high quality online and blended course design. The rubric places significant emphasis on course alignment in the areas of learning objectives, instructional materials, and assessment. When asked to share his thoughts on his experiences with QM, Dr. Durand stated,

“Meeting the Quality Matters standards can be time consuming but the OLITS staff are incredibly helpful and creative. The process challenges you to ‘up your game’ and provide the best experience for students. It would be helpful to have a parallel process for face-to-face courses.”
