Please join OLITS in congratulating Dr. Gary Tucker for receiving Quality Matters Certification for his fourth online course!

Principles of Educational Administration (EDA 6061) received QM Certification on February 26, 2019. This is the first course in the sequence for the Master’s Degree program in Educational Leadership at USFSP’s College of Education. In this course, Educational Leadership Candidates are introduced to the field and engage with foundation content and frameworks.

His previously certified courses as also part of the Master’s Degree program in Educational Leadership and include:

  • School Finance, EDA 6242, Certified June 8, 2018
  • Applied Program Evaluation, EDF 6492, Certified June 18, 2018
  • Administrative Practicum, EDA 6945, Certified August 10, 2018

Dr. Tucker shared the following advice for colleagues considering QM review:

My advice to faculty putting courses up for QM is to trust the process.  As an educator completing my 49th year, it is the best approach for course improvement with which I have been involved.  Having an external committee to act as “new eyes” as they evaluated my courses made me a better and more thoughtful instructor.  It was a learning experience which made me dig deep to understand the “why” for my course content and methodology.  Each of the my four courses which have been QM approved are now better and stronger as the result of this process.

Each of his courses are now listed on the QM database of certified courses and will also be recognized in the Florida Virtual Campus public course catalog as “High Quality” rated.
